Our MISSIOn
Expanding human potential one community at a time.
Hope in South Africa (HISA) is a global partnership that empowers communities to enable every citizen to become healthy, responsible, contributing members of society.
We are a global non-profit that started in 2004 as a partnership between the Episcopal Church of St. Peter’s in Poolesville, Maryland and the Anglican Church in Richmond, South Africa. The original US travelers who travelled to Richmond were inspired to renovate the local community center resulting in a thriving facility that now houses a soup kitchen, garden, bakery, library as well as provides HIV and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) health education and leadership training for youth.
The partnerships, relationships, and experience that we have gained through the years has enhanced our ability to support organizations and individuals across South Africa focused on youth education, health, and leadership.
To accomplish our efforts to bring peace and hope in the Richmond region and beyond, we rely on a very special team of citizens, volunteers and support from the charitable donations of organizations and individuals across the world.
You can support our work by making an online donation, becoming a volunteer at events and/or offering your talents for fundraising, marketing and website development. Your active engagement is needed for us to accomplish our goal of supporting South African children to have the opportunity to dream big and to grow into healthy, engaged global citizens.
Together, we can help build a hopeful future for all in South Africa.
